Repair and Plaster Wall Under Window

Please avoid this tradesmen at all costs. Although work completed was satisfactory, the communication was extremely poor. I hired Liam for the job early February, and it is now April and the work is not yet complete. Towards the end of the job Liam promised several time to show up to complete the works however, refused unless I pay him the full outstanding balance, of which I said I will pay him once all works are complete. He then argued with me for several hours over text message saying he can't complete the job because he does not have petrol to travel to site and therefore I need to pay him £300 to be able to attend the premises. Eventhough I have paid him for the materials, to complete the job. When asked why he needs £300 for petrol for 20 minutes travel he starts using excuses that he has bills and that his girl friend is pregnant. After stating I will pay him after in full after the work is complete he continued to argue with me. The work has therefore been left incomplete. He has also caused further damage to a wall in the property of which I did not ask him to do. I have been left out of pocket, as I have paid for materials and work has not been completed. He has used unprofessional arguments to get money out of me without invoicing, constantly hassling me about how his mother in law has paid for a pram and bills and his girl friend being pregnant and has sent hassled me numerous times via text message. Liam has failed to provide any invoices of materials purchased, and has been misleading when asking for payment. He had told me a dehumidifier has incurred an extra £50 charge, however when I asked him to provide an invoice for this charge he showed me the receipt for the deposit he paid on the dehumidifier thinking I would not notice the date. Honestly he has been a complete nightmare and I would avoid at all costs.
