I had flooring done from Newell’s in July2021. All three bedrooms upstairs and landing area. We had agreed that the flooring will be done throughout the rooms and landing as one continuous floor, so no need for floor strips etc. Rooms were made ready for flooring, carpet/underlay/grippers taken out by me. Newell’s (Hayden and his father Chris) were happy with that. Their overall communication was quite good, they are very respectful/courteous. They started the job well, here are my obs as the work progressed. - Underlay added to the floor in the landing area before any work started in the bedrooms, overtime this was becoming damaged. - Lazy cuts when trying to cut laminate to fit around radiator pipes. Some laminate boards were cut round and some square, no consistency for cut size/gap. Reason given – if the radiators need changing then there is enough gap for pipes to be taken out. - Main bedroom floor was joined with the landing area, but it seemed Hayden was not bothered with the other 2 rooms, not able to join front and box room flooring with the landing as agreed and gave up and was full of excuses. - Landing flooring had to be lifted from the railing side as I asked for this to be redone as it was not cut properly and was not sitting. They managed to fix this. - They had to take off the front room door. Hinges had a few layers of paint on it, they attempted to unscrew it but then decided to chisel out the screws. Only when they realised, they have messed up, they decided to speak to me. This cracked my wooden frame where the hinges were. Just being lazy, is all I can say. It would have been easier to chisel of the layer of paint and unscrew the hinge. Upon Completion of the Job. - Took them 5 days to complete the job, I was informed it will take 4 days. As soon as the job was complete, I paid in full. - I was asked to pay for the sealant on day 2, I agreed but, on the fact, that they should provide me with a receipt. Upon completion of the job, I paid for it, but no receipt was provided. - I found a lot of dried sealant on the floor and skirting boards. There was sealant and dirty handprints on newly painted bedroom walls. There was sealant on the flooring too. - Front room had a wardrobe which was moved around during flooring. This was put on a specific spot on the floor on the last day. I moved the wardrobe to clean the room and found a floorboard completely unattached to other floorboards. It would move if you put your hand on it. They applied sealant to the sides to cover it up and then placed wardrobe on it to hide it. That really annoyed me. - In the box room, there was floorboard that was uneven when you step on it, floorboards would creek. It seemed floorboard in the middle had something underneath. I was informed that the floor is uneven and it will settle down in a few days. I could not understand how as I lifted the carpets and underlay myself. So, I could not understand exactly how the floor became so uneven. - I had to reach out to ‘myjob’ website and sent them the pictures of boxroom and front room, where the wardrobe was placed. - When I rang Newell’s, they were trying to brush all of this under the carpet. Trying to play it down but I was not happy with the boxroom and front room flooring. Also, the fact that front and boxroom flooring was not connected to the landing, which meant I had to purchase floor strips. I, paid up in full as agreed and paid extra for sealant without receipts. I was not happy at being treated this way. - I feel, only when MyJob got involved that Newell’s realised they had to do something. So, credit to them, they came back after some persistence and constant messaging from me to sort out the issues. - Front room issue, where the flooring wasn’t joined to other floorboards due to uneven surface was blamed on his co-worker (Chris). Well, it wasn’t Chris who did the flooring. They had to take out the floorboards and place extra underlay at they spot on the floor. Although not perfect, it was a lot better than before. Just needed to be communicated before, simple. - Boxroom flooring was lifted and there was a piece of flooring found under the floorboard. I also saw no underlay where the flooring was taken out, small strips of underlay were placed on different spots. Again, just being lazy and cutting corners. I failed to understand how a piece of flooring was left underneath, I really don’t. - I never confronted Hayden over this as I wanted them out of my house, I have experience of DIY myself as I have done flooring work and cosmetic DIY before. To save time, I decided to bring someone else in to do the job and this was a bad decision. You get what you pay for. - I have photographic evidence, that I provided to MyJob and Newell’s but I never understood why would Newell’s behave this way, given that I looked after them and left them to get on with their job. Provided them with drinks etc. - This review is based on facts and evidence I have. Based on my experience I would not recommend Newell’s for anything. - If you do decide to hire them, they will need constant supervision as they tend to cut corners. One must take pride in their work, this does not seem to be the case with Newell’s. - They get 2 out of 5 for coming back to resolve the issues.

Painting /decorating was carried out quickly and efficiently .

Hayden and his Dad arrived on time, they worked quickly and efficiently completing the job on time. They communicated well keeping me updated on the progress of the job. they cleaned up after themselves and left everything neat, clean and tidy. I'm very happy with the work carried out. Additionally, it was a pleasure to have Hayden & his dad here, they were both cheerful and friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for decorating work or using them again for any future work.

Showed up on time. Nice job tidied up afterwards
