Attic Bedroom Renovation and Insulation
Unfortunately, Marvin finished this job in double the amount of time quoted. When I say finished, I mean it in a loose sense of the word. There was a lot of snagging at the end that was not done to a high standard. The paint work looked good from a distance. But when you get up close, there are a lot of areas of rough plaster and paint work. Marvin had to remove the radiator to undergo this work. Unfortunately, when taking off the radiator, he caused a leak. He does claim that he did not cause this leak. However, it caused a water pressure problem, which we needed multiple plumber visits to combat, with a new valve, and lots more money. Marvin didn't mention that this would effect the water pressure, and caused a lot of stress and cold showers! Marvin also upsold a lot of things that I'm unsure needed to be done. He caused a lot of scuff and paint marks in the hallway, and he claimed there was a leak from the roof window. Therefore he offered to change it and repaint the hallway, at at extra cost. He also repainted the bathroom. At an extra cost. A job which only needed doing because he had put black, smelly marks over the walls. He also offered to change the floorboards, despite not being asked to pull the carpet up. He did not give an opportunity to choose the items he put in. We did not have a choice of window types, or banister types, or carpet types, which was unfortunate. He left wires loose away from walls and floors. And lastly, he left a big puddle of urine in the middle of the floor in the bathroom, on the plastic sheet he put down. Which, without realising it was there, I stood in. He did offered to knock the price off his final price for this. He claimed it wasn't him, but someone he hired to work for him. However the apology was loose and the damage had already been done. So while the overall job finish was adequate, it was not finished to a high standard. So if you want a job that's alright, he will be able to do that. But that is all. He was polite, and considerate. He put sheeting down throughout the rest of the house. He kept us updated each day with what he was doing. It's just unfortunate that the finish wasn't quite up to a high standard, and that he peed on the floor.
