Plaster Skimming
I received a notification on 09.05.2023 from Adam knight saying he was interested in the job I had posted to board the space where my gas fire was and make good the surrounding wall and skirting. Adam quoted me £350 and said it would take 1 day. I accepted the quote and Adam said he would start the job on Saturday 13.05.2023 at 08:30. I rang Adam at 9:17 on Saturday to see if he was still coming as I had already been let down by someone else – no reply, he called me back, he had slept in. He came to the house and then went shopping for the materials he needed, this took over an hour. He started the job then left at around 17:00 and said he would be back on Monday to complete the job. I realised the fire space wasn’t big enough to do what I needed to do so I called Adam that evening and asked him to just cover the space and skim over – the price stayed the same. Adam came on Monday to complete the job. When I asked him about the roughness on the outside, he said it will smooth out as it dries. He said he will come back to do the skirting when the plaster had dried. I paid him before he left, and he gave me a receipt from his chip & pin machine and said he would send me an invoice later. On 17.05.2023 I sent Adam my email address to prompt him to send the invoice, he said he would send it that evening. I messaged Adam again on 22.05.2023 to ask for the invoice, he said he had forgotten and would send it that evening. I rang Adam again on 23.05.2023 to request the invoice, he said he would send it that evening. I mentioned the roughness of the plaster and he said he will come out and sand it the following week and replace the skirting. I received a typed email as an invoice that evening which I had to request again as it didn’t have my surname on it. On 04.06.2023 I messaged Adam to ask if he was still coming to replace the skirting but as of today 06.06.2023 he hasn’t replied. I am now going to have to employ someone else to finish the job Adam was paid for. Needless to say, I’m not very happy, I used this site as I thought I would be getting a trusted tradesperson … obviously not!

Adam came quickly and quoted competitively for the job,. He worked hard throughout the day to complete the job on time and to our comp;ete satisfaction. Recommended.
