Internal Painting & Decorating
We initially hired Janus and his team to strip existing wallpaper and paint the staircase and landing. After removing the wallpaper he said the walls need to be plastered. He assured us that he has experience in this and knows how to do everything. So despite having an existing plasterer, we went forward with Janus as the job had already started. When the plastering began, their inexperience became apparent. We wanted to end the job on the second day of plastering as we were not happy with the pace, cleanliness and finish so far. Janus ignored the request and continued to assure us that his team know what they are doing. The last straw for us was when they didn't know what a mist coat was, and were not going to apply a mist coat before painting the plaster. This was when we terminated the job as we are well aware of how fresh plaster should be treated. Although we did tell them we are changing our flooring, they did not have the basic decorum to keep my house in a decent standard, until I complained repeatedly about the mess. They also left their dirty buckets, rubbish and leftover plaster on my property without my knowledge after I terminated the job. Janus droned on about their professionalism and expertise. This was not shown through their work. They did not even bring a hoover or their own bin bags to clean their mess. Since then, I have had two decorators in who have concurred that the plastering has not been completed to a good standard. They will have to sand the plaster and remove imperfections before painting. Despite my several concerns, Janus was quick to request the money and did not even address or apologise for the issues. I have paid so much money to be left with shoddy results and a huge mess. I cannot speak on Janus' painting as we did not get that far but I definitely would not recommend him for plastering. The only pro is that he was respectful of our budget and tight deadline.
