    Plasterboard and Skim 2-3 Rooms

Well the gents asked me for a review so here’s an honest one after the way they went about finishing the job. Don’t get me wrong, the work is a reasonable standard. some patches of plastering a little rough, especially what appears to be the more technical areas such as meeting walls and corners, and the joinery was good enough, albeit a little rough around the edges or incomplete. It also feels like they cut corners: when doing a full plaster of a room, they totally missed the area around the windows and when I queried this they argued different excuses, such as they quoted me for “four walls” and that the window itself didn’t seem bad compared to other rooms so they didn’t feel they needed to do it. The thing they disappointed me most though is a distinct lack of interpersonal skills - the lads started a day later than they originally said and then as a result breached the deadline originally set by several days and had to finish the job pretty close to Christmas and whilst I was sadly out of the house at a relatives funeral. Admittedly a few extra jobs popped up during the time they were there, and I of course appreciate that they fixed these as they went along and that this took more time, however the way they handled the situation was vile. I asked the lads not to contact me until the afternoon as I was at a relatives funeral, to which Jack the day before agreed was no bother. But then on the day of, we received angry messages when I wasn’t reachable for payment (I had paid 2/3 of the amount and clearly wasn’t trying anything, they still had my spare house key at this point). The texts received from Craig telling us “family things come up but we need our money now” as well as constant calls once my partner turned his phone on was so insensitive and made the day much harder than it needed to be. Initially they weren’t even supposed to be working this day, so getting the “we need paying now” whilst I was literally at a relatives wake, and telling me I need to send payment at that very moment before they could leave my address - when the day before I was told that my there was no rush and I could just send the day they completed the work. Good communication throughout, kept in touch about the work - HOWEVER massive miscommunication about prices constantly meaning there was some hidden costs at the end which I wasn’t prepared for nor pleased with, ending up with a £200 extra bill I didn’t expect. So just ensure you get an invoice up front from this pair. Overall satisfactory work but wouldn’t go back - especially not to deal with Craig after such a dissapointing response when I could not answer my phone which was turned off for a funeral service. There was a a lot of rubbish left when they’d finished the job as well as left some of my tools that they used being left a total mess covered in plaster or broken, without communicating this to me or offering to replace them. Didn’t advise me before starting the job that it would be my responsibility to dispose of rubbish or else if they did it otherwise I’d incur an £80 charge… again, a hidden cost. This also included the door which they replaced, which Jack kindly cut down.. but left in our hall way. If you can find someone else, I personally would. Having somebody else fix the half a job of the did of my bathroom door that they’ve asked me to pay a further £300 + supplies if they’re to do next month.
