Good communication and the plumber (Dan) arrived promptly and seemed to fix the problem relatively quickly. So far so good. A really lovely guy. However, within 30 minutes of him leaving the taps in the bathroom stopped working. He returned and temporarily fixed the problem but it hasn’t been right since – charging me a further £120. Coupled with this I asked him to look at the Extractor fan for the bathrooms; his prognosis was that we needed to replace the whole unit and get the flue resolved. He then returned with a colleague to fix the Flue but only partially – gluing some pipes together that are not visible and leaving a hole in the ceiling. I am now down c£1100 for essentially labour. At this point we still have a hole in the ceiling where the boiler flue is and a non-working extraction fan. He then asked us to pay for the replacement extraction fan which he would order through his wholesaler. No problem and I felt this was a reasonable ask so we paid him £480 for the unit. In addition to this we asked him to fit a Brita filter to a kitchen tap – again we pre-paid so he could purchase the right units and parts, a further £444 was paid. This was when things started to get interesting. Several appointments were missed (cancelled at the very last minute or they just didn’t turn up) and getting a response became harder/impossible. When I eventually got a response he offered to install the Brita filter for free, but by this point I have found another plumber who charges a fifth of the labour costs and has done brilliant work for us. Fixing all the issues that didn't exist prior to the H20 visit. I offered to go and collect the Filter and Extraction fan that had bought on our behalf but he claimed that they had been posted. I asked for proof of delivery of £924 worth of products (Filter and Manrose Extraction Unit) - I was met with silence, he also left a Whatsapp group we had created between himself and my wife. Three weeks later the products I purchased haven’t turned up, he won’t respond to texts/messages asking for the products or a refund. The icing on the cake was that I received an invoice for the effort to take the products to the post-office for £120. Throughout the experience, which is now 12+ weeks, I have been nothing but polite, but my main worry is that this is happening to other customers who, like me, are desperate to find a reputable plumber. All in all I paid over £2000 for some really simple work and some problems that didn’t exist prior to the visit. Plus half the main job was left half finished. The watch out is that we pre-paid him directly for nearly £1000 of products and he clearly has no intention of refunding us/or installing them – and now won’t respond to our messages. We are exploring legal routes to recover the cost of the materials that were never installed. Lesson learnt is to order products yourself and ensure they are delivered to your house – do not pre-pay the plumber – especially this one. This might sound obvious but don't get lulled into a false security. Ironically, we have had further opinions from other plumbers who have stated that there is nothing wrong with the extraction fan, and all other issues have now been resolved.
