Hey! I’m Alex, Lex or Lexi (whichever you prefer!)
I’ve been an avid DIYer and woodworker for many years and would now like to put those skills to use helping others. I have all five star reviews across the sites I operate on, so just shout if you’d like to see more.
Many people, especially other women and the elderly, are pleasantly surprised to find a female handy person - if you’re asking specifically for a female for these reasons then please do let me know.
I like to work sustainably, so if we can save what already exists with a few clever parts, we’ll do that (unless you want brand new), and where possible and where it wouldn’t affect quality, I’ll source parts second hand to reduce your costs.
The kinds of jobs I have completed previously:
SO MUCH flat pack furniture, including IKEA! I am particularly experienced with MALM and PAX lines and can also give advice on PAX layouts and adaptations (including how we can make your PAX look built in). Also beds, bookshelves, etc.
Fixing of most items - windows, doors, small electrical items, minor electrics eg LEDs where one bulb isn’t working, replacing a broken bathroom fan, changing a bath panel, replacing oven/dishwasher elements etc. I’m a creative problem solver so if there is a part that can’t be found, I can usually make one!
Installation of smart heating, e.g. Hive on both combi and non-combi boilers, as well as adding additional ‘heating zones’.
Minor plumbing, e.g. replacing taps/shower risers etc, fixing taps eg washers, fixing toilet flushes, replacement of thermostatic shower valves (in wall or external - this controls the temperature of your shower).
Building bespoke wood structures, eg cupboard shelving. Bespoke furniture coming in future.
Finally, I’m also a software architect in my day job so if you have any ‘how do I/this stopped working’ techie questions whilst I’m with you, I’ll try to fix them for free!

Flat Pack Furniture Assembly
Highly recommended. Lexi is extremely helpful, the price is reasonable, and the bed frame is properly assembled. Despite the short notice of the job post, Lexi completed the task the next day and even assisted with unpacking the mattress.
