Ivan of CIS London was friendly, knowledgeable and quite easy to communicate with. On WhatsApp beforehand we went over the main concerns & he reassured me that he would fix the heavy cabinet securely on the wall and do a neat job, with everything included in the agreed price. On arrival, he spent quite some time examining different options for how to run the power cable to the cabinet, and discussed options with me so I could make an informed decision. He used some extra strong wall plugs to cater to my concern that the cabinet was heavy. All of those was good, and would have earned a 5 star review, however I do have some niggles that add up, hence the 3 stars: 1. He measured the place to mount it incorrectly, failing to take something into account. This meant a small patch (about 1 cm) of unpainted wall showing underneath the cabinet, which I now have to paint over (which will be tricky, given how the cabinet is mounted in the way). He admitted to this mistake, and I suspect it happened because he was too chatty and casual, not fully focussed on the job. 2. He used a black wire for the only visible part of the wiring, which stands out against the white tiles/wall. I was surprised by this as it seemed he was very particular about aesthetics. He did not consult me about this, and I had left him to do that part on his own in the kitchen, feeling confident that I didn't need to stand over him and micromanage. I wish he had used a white bit of wire as it would have blended more. It's a short length in a corner, so it's no biggie, but I still have to live with it that way forever now! 3. He promised me he would bring extra slim cable trunking, but it seems he didn't have any, or not enough, so I ended up with a normal trunking. A slimmer, single wire trunking would have been less noticeable and neater, this one sticks out slightly. 4. He had very dirty hands, probably from his previous job. I would have preferred that he washed them thoroughly at the start, or at least avoided touching things in my kitchen, but he seemed oblivious to this. 5. He started to rub off dust and small bits over my toaster at one point, and a piece of something fell into it! I rapidly moved it, and other items, but he should have thought about this and warned me so I could move things out of the way before working in an area of my kitchen that I did not expect. 6. He did ask if I was happy with everything at the end, but at that stage I felt there was no realistic way these things could be undone - if he had moved the cabinet down to cover the unpainted area, it would have meant drilling new holes just under existing ones, which I felt could weaken the connection to the wall. So I slightly begrudgingly said yes (I suppose I should have pointed out the things I was a little unhappy about, but I felt that he knew about the main one anyway as he admitted that point 1 was his mistake). In any case, he then invoiced me, and I paid the same day. He then asked me for a review. I had thought about not giving a review as a kindness, because I knew I couldn't give him 5 stars, but since he asked, I decided to just give a very honest and balanced review, so here it is. Overall I would say that he means well, is knowledgeable and competent, but that he didn't really give me full value for money as he was a bit too relaxed and made mistakes / oversights. The job was quite expensive I felt, so I expected a perfect end result, which I did not get. So I feel 3 stars is fair.
On time and great communication.
