    Floor Self-Levelling and Tiling

I hired Ash (buckenham Bathrooms) to do a complete bathroom refurb. Included in the quote was a price to replace a non-load-bearing partition wall. For this wall, he made two material recommendations: one was moisture-resistant plasterboard, and Hardie backer cement board. I gave him money for the plasterboard, and when the order arrived it was 5 sheets of the very cheapest plasterboard (Wallboard) you could buy, he said this would be okay for the reverse of the shower wall and that he'd give me a refund for the difference. I assumed wrongly the Cement Board would be used for the shower wall, which was to be tiled. When I came back from holiday, it was obvious he'd used the Wallboard for the shower wall, as it was visible through a gap in the tiles where the shower had been plumbed in. He told me the cement board had been used in between the wall studs, by this point I knew he was lying as the reverse of the plasterboard had been so badly fitted I could poke my hand through a broken corner and feel the plasterboard. He got quite irate and told me, if I wanted to see evidence of this he'd have to remove a tile, and I would be charged for this. I agreed to this. He backed down stating 'This is not how I do business,' he said and then left. I removed a sheet of plasterboard from the rear of the wall and cut a small hole, this revealed the back of the tiles and no cement board. After his favourite tile suppliers got involved, I was refunded the £180.00 for the backer boards. What I kick myself for not realising at the time, is that Ash has 15 experience of tiling and building experience. Even if another employee had fitted the boards after he plumbed in the shower, He tiled a whole wall spreading adhesive onto a paper surface, he would have known what he was doing. I've recently contacted the plasterboard supplier, and they informed me that Ash had not ordered moisture-resistant plasterboard as he claimed but wallboard, he kept the £67.50 difference, then blamed the supplier for the error. In addition, I understand the partition wall likely doesn't comply with Building Regulations, It comprises two standard 600mm and one 800mm centre over two meters. The legal maximum is 600mm, which will prove problematic if a future buyer uncovers this and wants to charge me to get it replaced. In two places the door lining has been used to join what should be structural CLS studs, the first being the top of the door frame. The second is opposite the door hinges, where a piece of CLS should have been used to provide solid support, an 850mm gap has been left where the thin door lining has been used in its place. The wetroom floor is also completely unfit for purpose, there is a small drop to allow water to run into the drain, however, due to the uneven surface, water quickly runs across the floor into the opposite corner of the bathroom forming a deep puddle under the sink, rotting the cheap sealant. The final straw. Ash asked for £36.50 for a list of sealants and caulk, he returned with what I now know is cheap rubbish not to be used in bathrooms. He did save himself about £12.00 but nearly all the shower sealant has come loose and the porous grout is now discoloured and soft. The overall quality of his tilling on the walls is very good, however, he's left me with a long list of expensive problems, I will need building control to check before I can sell my house. Sadly not worth the £3000 I paid.

    Ensuite Wall and Floor Tiling

Ash was polite and his work was to a very high standard. He involved both my wife and myself in all decisions and also gave us ideas that we had not thought of. We would definitely use Ash on future projects.👍

    Kitchen renovation

Job was finished to a high standard. Dealing with Ash was always a pleasure and was always very professional. Even when there was problems they we're delt with and I always felt looked after. The guys managed to take my kitchen from building site to complete in a week. Would highly recommend and would 100% use again! Thanks again

    Shower screen replacement

Ashley was communicative and helpful. I ended up having new tiles as well as a new bath/shower screen and I'm pleased with the result.
