    Insulation for improving heating

To what extent does any given amount of insulation material increase the temperature of a room? So for example, how much would the thickness of different insulation materials need to be increased to raise the temperature of a room by say one degree celsius? Does it work that way or is there more to it than that/is it not that straight forward?
