Best paint for walls/ceilings in kitchen & bathroom?

Hi Guys, I’m currently on a project of redecorating my home. Right now, I want to repaint the walls/ceiling of my kitchen & bathrooms. I would like recommendations for the type of paint I should be using. I have been told that there are special paints for both, like ‘Dulux Kitchen / Bathroom +’, while I’ve also been told that any normal matte emulsion is fine too. I had planned on using the Dulux Classics Timeless range as it is an interior paint, but I don’t know if it would be suitable for my bathroom or kitchen with the possibility of heat and moisture in the air. What do you all recommend best? Will the bathroom need different paint for moisture?

    Socket switch stopped working

I have a socket switch that powers my electric shower. It started smelling “fishy” and the socket/switch was very warm/hot. Now it has stopped working. The switch turns to ‘on’ position but there is no power. How can this be repaired cost effectively?

Can I repaint over gloss paint on wood?

Hello all, We are in the middle of planning some redecorating in the house at the moment and currently looking at what paints to use for skirting boards and doors right now. Some of them are bare wood and ready to be painted, while some already have a gloss paint applied to them previously. Should we remove the gloss paint from the already painted areas or just paint over them? Alternatively, we could use a different style of paint if that would better cover existing paint. If we need to remove the paint – what is the best option to do so, so that we can repaint again later? Any advice or past experiences would be great to hear about! Thanks!

Do built-in and under counter appliances need fused spurs?

Hello In the past I have used fused spurs for any and all appliances that are built-in to work tops or under the counter, but I had been told recently that this wouldn’t be necessary and that I could just run these appliances via sockets in adjoining cupboards. Should this be what I am doing instead nowadays or am I fine to continue as I have been? I want to be sure that I am installing appliances as safe as I can.

How long does a house rewire take?

I have an old house that needs rewiring and a new fuse box. It’s a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom victorian house. I just need to know roughly how long I can expect the job to take to complete? I'd also appreciate a cost estimate just so I know I'm not getting ripped off. Thanks.

How much to move an internal door?

Can anyone give advice pls? The lounge door is currently in a really awkward place. It would make much more sense to be further along the same wall (1.5 metres over) so we can fit a corner sofa in the spot opposite the tv. Is there a structural reason we couldn’t do this? And what sort of cost would we have to pay?
