Wooden saddle psint

I have 5 wooden saddles in my bungalow a friend painted them years ago it's a red brown colour what is the best paint for the wooden saddles to make it better newer again

"Hi Timmothy I have never painted wooden saddles.So I wouldn't like to advice you wrong.Butt if soft wood use wire woo lightly rubb if hard wood use light sandpaper then either die or paint.Sorry if not really helpful butt I don't won't advice wrong to spoil finish.Kind regards.Mark"

"Not quite sure what you mean by wooden saddles? I think the product being recommended could be Sadolin, again, never heard of 'saddling' but yes, if it's flaking, you can use either iron wool or sandpaper, if it's a coloured finish, bare wood may need to be treated with woodstain first, to prevent patchiness when complete"

"I would recommend to use of red-brown stain (Wood Stain) if you want to maintain the original ton, after that Varnish Sealing and Protection."
