Do I need to oil a wooden worktop or is there another way to maintain it?

Yes you need to oil it once a year at least, the oil and care kit should have come with the worktops when purchased. If you don’t have the kit, you can buy one from any reputable kitchen worktop supplier.. alternatively you can purchase oil and cloths from a decorator centre like Brewers. I hope that helps....

Hi,
Yes if the work tops have already been oiled then this must be kept up with. 
However there is away around this 
The work tops will need sanding down gradually using correct type of sanding pads or paper. And then applying a stain and sanded again and lastly by applying an external (yacht) type of clear varnish.

Depending on Worktop YES ...to be Honest this is something that You have chosen and Do NOT buy cheap Oils.
   Also, your Worktop will need to be Sanded down an Cleaned Before New Application of Oil.
