Window Lintel Work

I have noticed a line of bricks above the 2nd floor window are about 1cm from the layer directly above, does this requiring a lintel? Is this a big job, how long does it take. Should a bricklayer or window specialist do the work, finally would it be best to have both windows on the same level have new lintels added. Do the windows have to be removed if so is a bricklayer or window fitter best for the job. Halesowen Area, West Midlands

"Hi you would require a builder ideally as it sounds like the brick course above the window has dropped from your description. This would suggest there is no lintel.
The windows can stay in place for an external lintel to be put in.
Hope this helps."

"Hi. Definitely suggests the absence of a lintel. I would recommend asking a builder to carry out the work. Alternatively get a local window installation firm registered with certass or fensa who ate capable of installing new windows at the same time as lintels. It certainly makes sense to have new windows at the same time as often the windows won't be measured to accommodate a lintel above. They may need to be slightly smaller.
Good luck."

"Hi, there will be inner lintels above all your openings take most of the weight of the building and the roof.
2nd storey Windows will only need steel lintels, but i must stress that if they haven't included cavity trays in the roof line then these will need making up above the lintels with weeps to take away any form of moisture.
Usually a days work, given theirs no problems for two Windows.
Kind regards
