"Wall preparation is key when it comes to painting, scrap any flaky paint, sand down, fill gaps."

"Hi dont use pads for walls they aren't the best for coverage just a 9inch roller will do with deluxe magnolia matt then go over with silk same colour.
Thank-you hope this helps"

"Without seeing the wall it is difficult to say.
What type of paint are you using?
What paint was on the wall first?
Did you clean the wall before painting?
You need to get a roller (medium pile) and roll the walls for a better finish, or get a proper decorator to do it."

"Magnolia is normally a very good cover over previous strong colours. If you're still not getting an acceptable finish then it could be one, or all of 3 things. 1. Quality of preparation. Rub down, fill and rub down again. Clean of all dust. We have to assume it is now a even, sound surface with no contamination. 2. Using a pad will never give a professional finish. Get a 9" roller cage with a medium pile sleeve. You'll also need to cut in the edges neatly with a brush. 3. Quality of paint. Nearly anything you buy from a DIY store will be sub standard compared to trade paint. Search out a local paint supplier and ask their advice. They're normally very knowledgeable and helpful. It may appear much more expensive, but I would expect to cover any previous colour in 2 coats of magnolia, giving an even finish. Alternatively ask your friends/family to recommend a local decorator......"

"Hi Lyn,

It’s probably because you’ve used a pad, to get a nice finish use a 9inch Roll, it will distribute the paint more evenly

Hope this helps

"Hi I would completely rub down the whole wall again. Paint affected areas with 2 coats of zinzer wait for it to dry and then re coat walls to finish."
