What is drain root cutting and can it be done DIY or must a professional undertake this work?

Hi unless you have your own jetter with nozzles for doing this job and a camera to check the pipework after I suggest you find a drainage engineer to sort this for you but don’t just get one quote !

you would need professional root cutting equipment, If your drain is seriously damaged by roots it would need to be repaired

It is a drainage company that will need to come out and do this. You can use high pressure water with a special tool on the end to cut root.

I would suggest professional pressure jetting to remove drainage roots. Then provide a survey of the pipework. Outlining any defects. Hope this helps.

Hi Everson.

If the roots are in the manhole chamber you can remove them by hand if it is safe then do so. 
If the roots are in the pipe it is highly unlikely you will remove them without professional help. Sometimes roots can be dragged out in one clump but this is very rare. If they are tap roots or fine roots in the pipe then cutting and jetting machinery is required. I can help with this is you require my services.
