What tools and materials are needed to install tiles

Hi there, I’m thinking of having tiles installed on my property soon. Just wondering, what tools and materials are needed to install tiles atop sand and cement screeds? Thanks for your time.

"You will need a tile cutter: The size and type of which depends on the size and type of the tile. For natural stone tiles, you will need a wet saw which can be very expensive. A grinder is very useful to have such as a cordless battery powered one for cutting tiles to fit around plug sockets and pipes etc. For making holes in tiles you will need a diamond drill bit and drill with a wet sponge to help make an accurate hole. You will need tile adhesive but for beginners, I would not recommend a rapid set one. You will also need grout to fill in between the gaps and spacers to make the gaps even. Levellers are also good to make sure the tiles are level and depending on the surface quality you may want to put an underlay on first such as Ditra Matt. I also use a felt tip non-permanent marker pen to make marks where I want to cut the tile. PPE is also very important such as ear defenders, a dust mask and eye protection"

"You'll need a mallet to press the tiles down, a tile cutter to cut the tiles into the right size, a tiling trowel to spread out the adhesive evenly, a spirit level to check how level the tile is on the floor, a grouting trowel to put grout between the tiles once you're done."

"Remove any debris including dust and loose bodies
Apply a suitable primer using a brush or roller. Apply a second coat when the first coat is dry
Mix the tile adhesive in a bucket. Put the water in the bucket first, gradually adding the powder adhesive till the consistency is correct. (Be guided by the instructions on the bag of powder) Use a mechanical mixer for best results
Apply adhesive using a bucket trowel, spreading evenly using a notched 10m/m trowel.
Position each tile in the cement, pressing firmly and slightly twisting to attain a good grip
Leave for 24 hours before grouting.
Apply 2 coats of grout sealer"
