"Literally a mild detergent and warm water, do not use anthing that can damage or dye the wool.
Man made fibre carpets are much easier to clean, as they are usually bleach cleanable."

"Never use bleach for the staines because it will destroy the fabric"

"Use water or a WoolSafe approved cleaning spray (which is colour, fibre and re-soiling safe) to complete removal of the spill. Spray this onto the cloth first, and then dab the spill. Another important point to remember – spray the cloth rather than the floor. Spraying directly on the carpet will drive the stain deeper and wider.

As a general rule, dealing with spills as they happen is best, as dried in stains are always more difficult to remove from any fibre. It also helps to be prepared with the right information for dealing with different types of spills – wine, felt tip, tea etc."

"Hi Bill,

Most wool carpets are stain resistant which means you should be able to clean it with water and an approved spot cleaning spray."

"For liquid spills, follow the steps below:

Soak up as much of the spill as possible, using a clean, absorbent cloth, until there is no more transfer to the cloth. It’s important to remember to blot rather than scrub – scrubbing will push the stain further into the pile and damage the fibres.

Use water or a WoolSafe approved cleaning spray (which is colour, fibre and re-soiling safe) to complete removal of the spill. Spray this onto the cloth first, and then dab the spill. Another important point to remember – spray the cloth rather than the floor. Spraying directly on the carpet will drive the stain deeper and wider."

"Use a gentle detergent like Woolite to clean your wool rug safely. Fill a large bucket with cool water, then add one to two tablespoons of detergent (or your homemade wool wash) and mix well. Fill a second bucket with clean, cool water."

"Along with using commercial wool wash detergents, it's also possible to clean a wool rug with baking soda or vinegar. Baking soda is safe for wool rugs and offers a moisture-free option for a quick refresh, while vinegar is best for removing odors like pet urine.
Wool carpets are naturally stain resistant, which means that most stains can be easily removed using water and an approved spot cleaning spray. Even mud is easy to remove – simply let it dry and vacuum."
