What drawings do I need for an extension?

Do I need separate drawings for getting planning permission and building my extension? Is there a difference in detail etc?

"For the planning application, you need to submit existing and proposed floor plans, building elevations and sections. The scale of these drawings is normally 1:100 or 1:50. The planning drawings do not need to be as detailed as building regulation application drawings, but annotations such as dimensions and main building materials need to be added on these drawings."

"The drawings needed for planning permission and building control are different, planning permission tends to be the location plan, site plan (sometimes rereferred to as block plan), floor plans and elevations (existing and proposed where applicable).

Where as building control plans are the construction drawings that you builder will use. These include drawings such as sections through the building showing construction details."
