Warm Flat Roof Installation

Hi,

I have a cold flat roof with a desomopol covering. I want to upgrade it to a warm flat roof. Can this be done without removing all of the roof if I take out the insulation from below?

"To make your roof a warm roof you would need extra space in the area that separates the ceiling from the roof, You can definitely try but would be much more of a struggle to do internally than externally, also you woulds have to lose ceiling height to create more of a space for a room roof installation.

In all honesty, to create a warm roof from the inside without removing the Desomopol covering you would have no choice but to 'bodge' it or do incorrectly, which would not be advised by your landlord or a building inspector."

"I’m my time having built a few warm roofs your most likey to be looking at a full strip and reroof for everything to be properly fixed and bolted in the right places , also to provide strength in the structure"

"Yes we can do this from the inside but would involve removing plaster board"

"To be able to do this you'd either have to take the roof of and fully insulate or take plaster board down from the inside and then re insulate and then re instate the plaster board"

"Good morning.
Hope this helps but what I've done in the past is over board the original roof with a kingspan insulation and osb board 18mm new trims and upstands and glass fiber I think that should be more then OK.
Cheers Michael"

"As long as there’s no fire hazards on your current flat roof then can easily just screw boards on top of it with 10 mil ply wood. then touch on tar felt 👍"

"Aslong as there is no fire hazard with your original roof, it’s possible to board and fit a warm roof over the original."

"Providing the surface is flat I see no problem however a new vapour control layer would need bonding to the current roof system, then a tissue faced insulation then the waterproofing membrane, ply or osb should NOT be fitted above the insulation. Naturally the fascias would need to be changed to account for the new roof height (150mm current regs)."
