Do fake owls deter birds from nesting or is this a myth?

The use of decocoys  an be affective for a period of time but after a period of time the Pigeons will figure it out that they're not a threat and ignore them.

It's not a myth it just simply doesn't work. Even the dumbest of birds I.e. fetal pigeons get used to them after a few days. Your best bet is to call in a pest control professional and have them install a net or anti roosting spikes

Using a fake owl in a nuisance bird roosting or nesting place will show results since the decoy will likely prevent the birds from landing

Its a myth. Birds soon learn they are fake so will just ignore them.

These can work, but need to be moved regularly so as pigeons, seagulls, starlings etc don't get used to them and continue to worry about their presence.

Hi Sarath.

Decoy birds of prey do detur certain species of birds,  but Corvids can often realise after a period of time that they are no threat. I often see decoy raptors in gardens with birds visiting the garden at the same time, so l would say that they work for a time.

I have specialised in bird control and no fake owls or other birds of prey do not work

Sometimes it works you’re better off with a bird of prey on a stick, flapping about eventually get used to it
