Underfloor Heating, Replacing carpets.

I have underfloor heating in two bedrooms with carpets I want to replace with vinyl / wood flooring.

Do I need to buy new underlay?

House was built in 2015.

Thank you.

"Yes you need underlay as rule. But it depends on the underfloor heating system you have"

"You definitely cannot use carpet underlay for hard flooring whether it be laminate , spc or lvt.

As for what underlay you will need ...
If you are putting rigid lvt down you won't need any , as it's built in if you are having stick down LVt then 5.5mm flooring grade ply should be used as the underlay as the lvt sticks directly to it.

Always check that whatever product you go with can be used with UF heating and check the maximum temp it can go to as I've seen lvt melted after a really poor fit and the builder didn't advise that it had a maximum."

"I would use a foil backed underlay and make sure it is compatible with the heat that will be used against it. Otherwise it could melt and create an uneven sub floor."

"I would recommend the Heatflow Wood & Laminate Underlay designed for underfloor heating with laminate floors"

"Hello i can answer this for you. You wont need underlay or the same underlay as carpet for the different floor covering. If youre changing from Carpet to Vinyl the floor will most likely need self levelling before installation and if you go for wood you'd need a underlay designed for wood as its different to carpet. "Flooring Installation:

Follow Flooring Manufacturer's Guidelines: Each type of flooring may have specific installation requirements, especially regarding expansion gaps and acclimatization periods.
Temperature Settings: Gradually increase the temperature of the underfloor heating when first used with the new flooring to allow it to adjust without stress.
By choosing the right flooring and underlay, and following proper installation procedures, you can ensure your new vinyl or wood flooring works effectively with your underfloor heating system, providing comfort and durability."
