Tips for installing a stud wall

Do you need to buy all the materials/supplies as part of a package or from the same provider for installing a stud wall or can you mix and match from different suppliers and still have it work okay?

Can I buy these from different places and how di I know that they’re compatible? I’m just looking for ways to save on money for this project as best I can without compromising the safety and success of the installation. Thank you.

"Personally, I would buy all the joist from the same place as the timbers will generally be the same size. as for the clad, fixings and screws they can be sourced easily from most DIY or builders merchants."

"You can always mix and match. If you have a contractor on board, they should be able to help you with compatibility and safety issues. Get in touch if you need more help."

"Good evening Jonathan,

In terms of compatibility with different materials marrying together, with a stud wall it is the measurements and the correct building of the studded wall that allows everything else to come together as you will.

In terms of buying supplies from one supplier or a few different suppliers, this should not matter as they are all competing and price matching.

The biggest problem at the minute is availability of materials so shopping at a big supplier such as Travis Perkins maybe an option and you can open a trade or cash account on 5 minutes

I hope this helps"

"You can get the materials in most builders merchants. For example, B&Q, Travis Perkins, Jewsons and so on as long as you have the correct material it does not matter where you get it from, you can shop around for the best price.

Hope this helps,
Kevin"
