time frame to gain planning permission for an extension

I am hoping to apply for planning permission soon for having a large extension added to my back garden. How long does it generally take to get planning permission approval? Is it a long process? Is it difficult to get approval or in most cases is permission given?

Depends on council (area) some take longer than others also what sort of permission you require eg to build house or to convert house into two flats And the type of building or structure you are doing If its for an extension or loft conversion that would normally go through faster than building a house etc bit time frames vary greatly they can be quite quick or slow

Depends on the size the distance you can build out on a single story ext without planning permission has just increased. Building regulations are usually 2 to 3 days .
If plans are being submitted 5-8 weeks.
