Taking wood off a door

I need to take some wood off a door so it fits in the frame properly. Am I best using a plane or sandpaper?

"...depends on how much/thick to be removed!
Up to 1mm sandpaper, if more than planer."

"Hi it all depends on how much you need to take off. If it's only a millimetre or 2 then a plane is ideal. If it is much more (eg: 10mm or more) then perhaps a circular saw . Beware that if done incorrectly it could destroy a perfectly good door. If in doubt get a professional carpenter"

"Depends on the type of door, the material of the door, HARDWOOD, SOFTWOOD, COMPOSITE etc. and how much reduction is required."

"Hi always a nice sharp planer but be careful as with new door they are mostly made up of composites.
This means you will only have a maximum of 10 mm each side to plane off before the material effect changes.
Unless it is a SOLID WOOD door"
