Switching boiler to hot water only

Is there any harm in switching a boiler to hot water only when you're not using your heating? Will this save energy?

"This will undoubtedly save energy, as long as the hot water cylinder has a working thermostat which switches the boiler off when heat is satisfied."

"If it is a combi boiler and it has a heating & hot water setting or a hot water only setting on the boiler itself turning it to hot water only is exactly the same as leaving your heating off at your programmer so unfortunately will not save you any energy. đŸ™đŸ”„đŸ‘đŸŒ"

"There's no harm in doing that but it won't save any money if your room thermostat is turned down anyway (or the heating timer is turned off)."

"If it’s a combi boiler it won’t make any difference as the heating is only in when you set a demand for it to come on so the boiler is only working when you ask it to do so"

"Short answer is yes boiler ok on water only and will use less gas.

But be mindful that allowing the fabric of your home to become cold or damp can cause problems that will cost thousands of pounds mould damp brickwork decay.

Maintaining a low temperature is better than complete shutdown."

"I take it you have a Combi boiler and your refering to the Heating / How water switch on the boiler. The less you touch the boiier the better. Its best to control the heating by using the Room Thermostat or the Time switch. "Will this save energy"
Without sounding to flipant "If your rooms are getting cold then your saving energy""

"No Problem at all
All combi boiler have this function which is classed as summer time mode. Where there’s no heating, just hot water.
It will save energy yes as you won’t be using boiler for heating."
