Staircase without newel posts

Your question is awaiting moderation by the MyJobQuote team.

I’m looking for advice on a staircase project. I’d like to install a staircase between a solid wall and a half-wall that I plan to build. The half-wall would include built-in storage under the stairs. I don’t want newel posts as I want to keep the wall as slim as possible. There would be no balustrade, but I’d install a handrail on the solid wall.

Is this idea feasible? Specifically:
• Can the staircase be structurally supported by a solid wall and a half-wall without newel posts?
• What kind of reinforcements would the half-wall need to support the staircase and storage?
• Are there any building regulations I should be aware of for this type of design?

I’d love to hear from anyone with experience or advice on similar projects. Thanks in advance!
