Smoke escaping into bedroom

Hi, when I light my log burner, I end up with the bedroom above filling with smoke(The bedroom has an unused original fireplace in in it).
The landlord says he’s had it checked and there’s nothing wrong with the chimney. I feel like I’m being fobbed off and could do with some advise as to what the problem could be so I can go back to him with it.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

"The smoke coming from the chimney is caused as the lining in the chimney is not working no more or it could not be fitted properly my advise is tell your landlord to get a new liner refitted in the chimney as it’s not a big job. He will be looking at around £250/£350 depending on the contractor who will fit it. If he dose not get it sorted tell him your going to a solicitor as this can cause issues to your health or even worse death. Please don’t be lighting no more fires till this gets sorted.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

"First question. When last did the landlord have the chimney swept.

second question. have the other chimneys been blocked off.

Third question. The chimney may need lining with a kopex liner for log burner."

"More than likely the brickwork forming the upstairs chimney stack has started to crumble were it adjoins with the downstairs stack , also if the chimney is blocked at roof level smoke will find another way out of the stack"

"If there is smoke coming in to the bedroom , I would suggest 2 options there is rather a break in the chimney liner or the chimney pot is not tall enough to allow the smoke to disperse."

"There should be a continuous aluminium flue liner attached to the back of the log burner attached to a cowl on the chimney pot"

"That is a serious issue there is clearly a hole some where if the chimney is full of soot and there is a draft blowing in from somewhere below the top it is possible that it could catch fire you need that looked at asap"
