After attempting to self-level the floor it has a chalky finish to the top layer. The bottom layer is firm. What is the best way to fix this?

"It sounds to me like you have added to much water to your mix . It can be solved depending on the severity . You would need to sand the top layer of chalk off until you reach a normal latex floor."

"It depends on the product you were using.
Possibly you've put too much latex through the mix. You eould need to start again unfortunately or sand down till you reach a firm surface."

"Clean off the dust and apply 1 coat pva primer over the entire area.
The chalky residue forms from excess use of water in the mix.
Make sure that the rest if the self levelling compound has adhered to the sub base and is firm."

"Grind it away using a scouring pad if the area isn’t that big, this is due to the calcium in the screed."
