"Depending on the age of the roof or tiles brand if not listed not really"

"If you change the height then talk to the council.
If you extend any overhang then also talk to the council so you don't do any alterations exceeding permitted development.
Better safe than financially sorry"

"Evening John
As far as I am aware there shouldn't be any permission needed for the change of roof materials or work that needs doing on the specified area, unless it states otherwise in any building plans/spec that u may have"

"If you are just changing the roof to new tiles then no you don't need to inform the council. Though you could inform them of the change so the building inspector will pass it off and you get a certificate at the end of it. Though this comes at price between £250 and £400 roughly."

"You do need permission if your changing more than 25% of roof or changeing roof tiles but like for like roofs no permission needed"

"It all comes down to what type of alterations you are doing for example if you are raising the ridge height then yes"

"It is unlikely that you will need to apply for planning permission if you are re-roofing your property. The same is true if you have decided to add skylights or roof lights. Current permitted development rules allow you to alter your roof as long as they fall within certain limits and conditions."

"considered to be permitted development (not requiring planning permission) subject to the following limits and conditions."
