Replacing double oven with single oven.

Hi all

A little friendly advice required please.....

I need to replace my built-in double oven that has a power rating of 4.2 kW and is, as far as I can ascertain, on its own circuit due to having its own circuit breaker at the mains fuse box and main switch at the wall next to the oven.

I have bought / replaced my own ovens without issue before, but something is making me doubt myself and seek clarity.

My question is, so long as the replacement oven is equal to or less than 4.2 kW, it should be a straight forward, like-for-like replacement...... Shouldn't it?

Would I have to replace the cable running from the oven to the wall switch or consider anything else?

Many thanks in advance for your advice.

Nick

"Hello,

Just a couple of bits of further information needed to advise you. What size is the current MCB in the fuseboard for the cooker and what is the size of the new oven in terms of rating.

It’s likely that your new oven will be lower in power usage then the double so if it is being wired directly to the wall plate then the fuse may need to be de rated to offer the best protection.

If you could send over those bits of info and maybe a picture if it allows you then I would be happy to advise you further.

Many thanks."
