Replacing a steep staircase

I want to replace a steep staircase. Is there a way to make it less steep using the same amount of space?

"Less steps and longer treads
Otherwise you'd need to extend the overall floor space the stairs would land on!"

"Depends what you mean by "steep" the angle can't change without changing either the height or the length, however you could have more steps if you what you really want is for the individual steps to be smaller."

"My geometry knowledge tells me that you cannot! It's all about diagonals. Think of a diagonal of straight triangle - you can't really lower the angle without affecting either the height or the base of the triangle."

"The short answer is no. The length of the staircase (the going) will have to increase in order to reduce how steep it is. Alternatively the height (the rise) would have to reduce.

Refer to building regs part k for the details on minimum and maximum dimensions of rise and going in a private dwelling."

"Yes as long as it can turn at the bottom you can put a dog leg on it,usually three to four steps"

"Depending on the existing stairs and available space, the most convenient way is to have the first and the last 3 x risers fitted right or left angle,
Without measurements, plans or even photos it’s not so easy to give you options,"
