Replace battery on outdoor lights

I had an outdoor light fitted in 2017 by electrician, the light would come on in the dark when dog went out into garden. This no longer works, does it have battery/batteries that need changing? It consists of the light that comes on, below that is the small motor sensor and right at the top there is a little white box. Is this where battery is? How do I fix it?

"Hi Carol,

Unfortunately it looks like the fitting has failed being 7 years old. Outdoor lights tend to have a shorter shelf life in comparison to internal lights due to the extremities of good old british weather. It could be the sensor of any of the components inside. The little white box is a connection box, there won't be a battery installed. Unfortunately you will need to call out an electrician to safely isolate and replace."

"Hi carol,
There are some battery powered lights on the market but it's very unlikely that you have one it would have needed recharging long before now. The white box is where the mains power connections are. Probably the censor has let in water and failed. You will need a new pir outside light. Hope this helps"

"It won’t be battery, I highly doubt an electrician will install a bettery powered as you would have needed to change the battery a long time ago.

So best bet is that light fitting or bulb has come to end of life."

"Hi, normally the lights are mains powered. I think the white box you are referring to maybe a junction box - if so this is not a place to have a battery.

If you could send me some pictures ot would help. You can send them to Fisa Electrical Services

"If it was fitted by an Electrician I would have thought that it would have been Mains fed, therefore having No battery. If it has a light switch inside for operation, this would give you a clue if it is 230v or not, or whether you can see any wires entering it!
Treat with care though if inspecting!"
