Which is more thermally efficient and weatherproof wood cladding or render?

wooden paneling but if there is a distance between the wall and the wood. so that the air can circulate and have an effect. this means that if you make a wooden paneling there must be a grate on the wall

Render provides far better insulation capability’s over wood cladding I personally would go with render unless using insulation behind the cladding

Hi, wood cladding is the best for thermal efficiency but you do have to consider the maintenance issue and fire risk.

They are more scenarios to consider than rendering or cladding.

Planning - do you live in a conservation area or is your building listed?

Cladding - coloured cement board cladding would be good as it would reduce your maintenance and with some ridged insulation between the board and superstructure, you can increase the thermal efficiency and reduce solargain. but always installed as per manufactures instructions.

Render - Though coloured renders are common and can be applied on the correct insolation to achieve the same benefit as the cladding above.

Conclusion - you could go with either method but would be worth chatting with me to work out your best option.

Rendering is alway more efficient to cladding as modern homes suggest and apply insulation..cladding will deteriorate over time due to bad weather
