Recourse on a leaking roof job?

I had a leak coming from my roof, down behind the fascia and leaking into my house
I had a roofer come out and he says that it might be a few slates and some repointing.
He came out and suggested that repointing the ridge tiles would cost £180 including broken slates.
I asked if it would fix the leak
He said he couldnt guarentee it as the slates are in bad condition.
I phoned someone for a second opinion, he didnt get back to coming around which left me with the first guy who came out
He told me to call him if the leak still came through
The roof the following two days was still leaking down the same area

He said he will come and repoint ''some bricks''

Have i any recourse here?

"The issue sounds more like your membrane or sarking felt is failing, if the roof has membrane this should normally continue into your gutter so a secondary measure of the tiles fail, should be nothing to do with pointing."

"The price for pointing the ridges seems ok.
The roofer didn't give you a definite garantee about the leak which is common as sometimes it is trial and error for leaking roofs.
Its not always obvious where the leak is so he could be giving you a genuine appraisal."

"No because he/she did inform you it may not work however the ridge tiles would not have been the issue and in my view I doubt he /she actually reset the ridge but just pointer the mortar where needed
You need to make sure that the belt or membrane is not tucked under the gutter or indeed you have damaged slates /tiles"

"A roof is very tricky if you don't spend the time investigating.

You could be chasing the leak and spending every time a roofer comes out"

"It’s sounds like you’re old felt is probably rotten up to 1 meter which means the water not going in gutters our your gutters maybe full of dirt"

"I've had this before on a customer where the actual down pipe was blocked mid way down the pipe. Causing water to back up and tip over, unfortunately gutter leaned back so it tipped out back into the fascia. Check gutters are not blocked first. As for guy he said its a risk no guarantee and his price wad cheap."

"If it's leaking behind the Facia, it sounds like the felt is not long enough. Get some heavy duty felt (approx 150mm) and tuck it under the felt at the bottom slate making sure it goes into the guttering. it can be secured in place using CT1 mastic ( a better version of No Nails )

I hope this helps
