Radiator relocation

I am buying a bungalow where I want to relocate the living room radiator to the other side of the room, the flooring is laminate floor. Can it be done by a tradesman without damaging the floor or do I need to get multi trades in to complete the job. I don’t want pipe work all around the skirting as I want it done properly.

"To do the job properly the floor will definitely need lifting. In order to preserve the laminate floor it’s advisable to get a trades person in who can disassemble and reassemble it for you.
Some plumbers may have the required expertise for the flooring but you would need to check with them."

"There are a number of factors that will determine if this is possible.

I suggest getting a plumber around to have a look. It really depends on the construction of your bungalow and where the pipework runs. If the radiator is fed below the floor and there is sufficient access ie a suspended timber floor this could be achieved. If the pipework is fed from the roof space this could also be achieved. Without looking at the job, knowing the pipework runs and construction methods it’s difficult to answer. Chances are it will be achievable.

As the radiator is against the wall it could also be possible to take up a single row of laminate (depending on the direction it has been laid) to provide access to cap of the pipework under the floor to reduce any dead legs.

As I said call a plumber to have a look."

"Hi a good plumber should be able to take up the laminate do the work then put back as was. Dont think a multi would be necessary."

"Is there a hatch or access to underneath the floor in a cupboard space?
Is it concrete flooring?
If not the the laminate would have to be removed it is possible to do so without damaging flooring but would require time and organisation there would however be 2 small holes where the existing radiator pipe would have been"

"It can be done by a multi -skilled tradesman, if the flooring is not glued then the damage should be minimal"

"Hi there
This can be done by running the pipes from where the radiator is now around above the skirting to your desired position, or u could take the skirting boards off and run the pipes around where the skirting was then box the pipes in with the new skirting.
Hope this helps"

"I'd imagine you can connect on the existing pipework in the loft/roofspace and just have 2 drops of copper pipework from the ceiling to the flow/return of the radiator"
