Somewhere you dont want to put furniture. You dont want it blocked by a sofa for an example ideally. People will say not under windows too but thats less important now days

Best place would usually be underneath the window but this all depends if you currently have anything there also try not to block with furniture as this could reduce the heat you’ll be getting in that room

Years ago it was suggested that under the window was the best place to site them, the idea being that any draughts coming in to the property via the older windows would be heated by the radiator. 
With modern windows being far less draughty, thoughts have changed on the matter, ascetics play more of a role, as does ease of installation.
The only place I wouldn't fit them is opposite each other on opposing walls. the heat generated would just roll around a ceiling level, taking forever to heat the room.

Under the window is a good place unless you have long thick curtains then during the winter months when curtains closed you won’t benefit from the heat/
