"Hi Simon,

PROS
- Cost
- Hundreds to choose from.
- Absolutely fine for basic kitchens
- Quite hard wearing and long lasting if you avoid the very cheap ones.
- If damaged, no invisible repair can be done although it can usually be
improved.

CONS
- Often not fitted correctly which then limits the life span.
- Not suitable for undermont or belfast sinks.
- Not generally suitable for curves
- Look cheap compared to solid surface worktops, (However, solid surface tops
are a lot more expensive).

Regards,

Matt"

"Pros - cheapest option & no maintenance.
Cons - not as aesthetically pleasing as other options. They are thicker than solid surface, quartz, granite etc. Liable to swell if not fitted correctly"

"They are cheaper than other options and if fitted correctly dont need any further time spent on them, whereas wooden ones need oiling"

"Hi, with laminate worktops you have a lot more styles to choose from, the easier to install and they are cheaper to buy over granite or quartz. Down side to them they scratch and if they get damaged or burnt they will need to be replaced. A misteral, maia or corian worktops are acrylic and can be repaired if they get damaged or scratched. Cost wise the are in the middle between laminate and granite. Take a look at them as well."
