Propane vs butane LPG storage unit

What costs more, a propane LPG storage unit or a butane LPG storage unit? And which do you think I should buy and what are the pros and cons of each option? Do they take long to install and are they hard to find?

"There is very little difference in price but propane burns much hotter and works out best in the long run. The storage units are the same just fittings that are different. Your storage area will have to comply with the regs. You should talk to your local Calor gas's agent he can supply you with all you need from information to type and price of unit."

"Propane and butane tanks are similar in cost, but propane is more commonly used in the UK for outdoor storage.

Key differences:

Propane:
• Works better in cold weather
• More suitable for outdoor tanks
• Slightly higher pressure

Butane:
• Better for indoor or mild climates
• Stops working efficiently in cold temperatures

For UK use, propane is generally the better option, especially outdoors.

Installation time depends on tank size and setup, but suppliers usually handle installation and compliance. Availability isn’t normally an issue through major LPG suppliers."
