Hi, I’m in the process of buying a house & the survey says that the soil & vent pipe need to be raised my question is why & how much will it cost for a professional to do it.

Hi this may be because the vent pipe which is normally finished above the roofline may be to low it could be other issues but would require a little more information and some photos

The pipe will most probably need to be raised to allow for adequate fall as Nd correct venting of the pipework to above the property

I would assume that the present termination of the SVP is situated whereupon the smells from the drain could ingress into the property causing an obvious nuisance.

The SVP would require extended or possibly an air-admittance valve could be employed subject to site conditions.

We would offer a day-work rate for such works or alternatively, a quotation if you were able to provide more information, such as SVP material, access requirements etc

Soil and vent needs to be far enough away from an openable window or vent  roof light etc etc check building regs for dimensions

No need to change it has to be cleaned, and price for it it will be 250 pound

its so the air flow down the pipe helps with bad smells and help with blockages

There could be many reasons why your soil pipe needs to be raised, without pictures or diagrams it’s difficult to give a reason why in your case
