Preparing a concrete floor for a traditional screed

How much would it cost to just prepare an existing concrete floor (so roughing up and priming) for a traditional sand and cement screed? Area approx eighty square metres. Thank you.

"You’ll be looking around the 25 m2 mark
Priming should be done just before the screed goes in, obviously allowing to go off first"

"The cost of preparing an existing concrete floor for a traditional sand and cement screed, including roughing up and priming, typically ranges from eight to fifteen pounds per square metre, depending on factors such as location, accessibility, and the condition of the floor.

For an area of eighty square metres, the estimated cost would be:

At eight pounds per square metre: Six hundred and forty pounds
At fifteen pounds per square metre: One thousand two hundred pounds

Cost Factors to Consider

Floor Condition: Floors that are heavily damaged or uneven may require additional labor and materials, which can increase costs.
Type of Primer: Using specialized bonding agents or primers for improved adhesion might add to expenses.
Location: Prices can vary based on local labor rates and the availability of materials.
Accessibility: Hard-to-access areas may incur higher labor costs.

Next Steps

To get a more accurate estimate, consult local flooring contractors for quotes. Make sure the cost includes surface preparation (roughening and priming) as part of their service."
