Positioning of a socket for a dishwasher

Where is safe to locate a socket for my dishwasher that's out of sight? I'm told it can't go behind the machine or under the sink. Is this right?

"Hi,

Yes you can have a socket behind the dishwasher, but would advise having a switch above the work surface to isolate. Either that or a socket mounted in a kitchen unit which is accessible to switch it off."

"It can go under a sink. Depends on the location of the socket under the sink behind the dishwasher it'sself makes ts own problems as you can't get the dishwasher back enough as the socket and plug
Will stick out"

"Directly behind the dishwasher single sickest that's then connect a switched fused spur above"

"That is correct, you can locate the socket within a cupboard assuring its 300mm from sink"

"There is no problem with it going behind the machine if the socket has a remote isolating switch that is easily accessible.
I would have to check my latest regs book about fitting a socket under the sink, I am not aware of regs that forbid this as long as the socket is not placed where it might come into contact with water ie directly below the water outlet for a washing machine. A weatherproof socket could be used for a belt & braces approach."

"Depending on the kitchen layout you can either hide the socket in a near by kitchen unit or behind the appliance itself . 073-88-914839"

"The best practice in doing this is to have a un-switched. Single socket behind the dishwasher controlled by a 13amp FCU above the worktop. For accessibility.

The FCU will be the on off switch for the dishwasher"

"Either, but be aware if it's a built in dishwasher space at the rear is at a premium.

I tend to fit sockets for appliances under the plinths with double pole switches on the wall near the appliance for isolation."

"There is no problem putting it behind the machine or under the sink as long as it is on a fused spur"

"The isolation point for the dishwasher should be accessible, whether that be in the way of a fused spur or plug under the sink."
