Plumbing a Fridge Freezer

Hi,

How hard or expensive is it to get plumbing across a kitchen for an American style fridge/freezer?

"It’s hard to say exactly what price it would be as location of pipes and appliances or kitchen units in place that need the pipework to be altered around can vary. Best solution would be to ask around for some quotes with some photos and base it off that"

"It's depending trough where the supply pipe will be fitted:
1. Visible, that's cheaper in labour and materials
2. Hidden, if that takes to case wall, ceiling, floor, etc will be more expensive
3. Lucky one, if the position of the fridge is bac to back with a water supply and all the pipe work will be hide by the fridge itself.
Wich one is suitable for you?"

"Depending on how far the pipework needs to be run I’d say anywhere between £60-£-120"

"It’s usually a pretty simple job, especially if the fridge is going near the sink or an existing cold water feed. Most American-style fridge freezers just need a small water pipe run—typically ¼” tubing—which can be routed through the backs of cabinets or along plinths without much hassle.

You’ll need to tee off a cold water pipe, fit an isolation valve, and run the pipe to the fridge. A lot of people use push-fit fittings, which makes it easier and avoids the need for soldering or anything too involved.

If you’re confident with basic plumbing, it’s very doable as a DIY job. Otherwise, any plumber should be able to sort it quickly"

"As others have said, it depends on the size of the area you’re working with, but to put it into perspective:

You could buy 6 metres of copper pipe for around £20(around £10 per 3 metres). That might be enough pipe to work with. You’d then need clips which could be around £5 for a box. You’d need the tools and skills to do it yourself, or you could hire out a plumber who could do it for which might cost £50-£100.

Altogether, you’re looking at a total price of maybe £50-£200 depending on how you play it out(whether you do it yourself or hire out a plumber)and the size of your kitchen."
