"Obtaining planning permission for a contemporary extension in a conservation area can be challenging, as the local authorities often impose stricter regulations to preserve the character and heritage of the area. Factors that could influence the decision include the size and scale of the proposed extension, the materials used, and how well it fits into the existing streetscape and the architectural character of the area. Overall, the difficulty of obtaining planning permission for a contemporary extension in a conservation area will depend on the specific circumstances of the proposed development and the requirements of the local planning authority."

"IF YOU GIVE ME DETAILS OF YOUR PROPOSED EXTENSION IN MORE DETAIL AND A MAP REFERENCE OR POST CODE I CAN CHECK PRECEDENTS AND PRIOR PLANNING CONSENTS IN THE AREA TO ASSESS THE LIKELIHOOD OF YOU GAINING PLANNING PERMISSION.

I CAN ALSO PROVIDE HELP WITH THE PLANNING PROCESS AND IN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF LEGAL LOOP HOLES THAT ALLOW FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OLD FARM BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES EVEN IF THEY ARE NO LONGER THERE PHYSCIALLY"

"This can Depend upon the specific characteristics and guidelines of the conservation area where your property is located. Conservation areas are designated by local planning authority and can differ between councils.

It really depends upon the type of extension and how visible it is (i.e. a rear 'glass and oak cube' could be acceptable). - Many Planning authorities prefer a contemporary and contrasting design on a listed building so the difference between the old and new is apparent.

"It can be difficult, however if the proposed design is sympathetic to the surrounding area / your dewelling then I am sure planning can be achieved."
