Outdoor bbq all cracked and crumbling inside

Have an outdoor bbq that was already installed in garden, don't think heatproof material was used on the inside as its all cracked and crumbling inside, not sure what i need to repair the inside, heatproof cement or mortar?

"I think you have answered your own question there, as you can't control heat on a charcoal bbq it could generate heat upwards off 300c so yes heat proof materials are the better option"

"Yes that’s a possible cause…it would also depend on the position of wall..ie.is it open to weather conditions..rain frost etc"

"Its best take off the existing cement and check if bricks haven’t been cracked, if the bricks are cracked they might letting air inside, initiatively they should of used heat proof bricks and heat proof cement, if the bricks are ok use heat proof cement should do the job"

"If you could reach it all from the oven or through the chimney then break it all out ,find a traditional fire cement and smooth it on using your bear hands and water. If you cannot then get the lump hammer out."
