Our front door opens

Question

Our front door opens from the outside all of a sudden. Never happened before, what could be the issue?Obviously if you lock it with the key it won't open.

How easy is it to fix this?

That's normal to open the door from outside if is not locked or you don't have auto lock system or handle not split spindle.

Hi, can be the mechanism if it's a multipoint mechansim or the actual lock cylinder if is the case, for best results without spending to much time, try to make a video of the door operating and send to a professional

Hi Zak.

It depends on the type of door you have. If it’s a wooden door with a sash lock it might mean that the latch has stopped working or sticking. You’d probably best replacing the lock.

If it’s a upvc ‘no follow’ door then there could be a problem with the mechanism. It’s usually a matter of replacing the old one mechanism for a new on.

Look like you have a latch which or is not catching or is not working properly because the door could move from the weet weather
