One-wall kitchens: are they a good idea?

I've seen a lot of kitchens that just use one wall of the room and quite like the idea. But are they practical in terms of storage and use?

"Use is fine. Storage will obviously depend on the amount you require and the size of the wall you have available for the kitchen.
One advantage will be the cost of installation. You will always save a bit by not having corners."

"Hi Carherine,
These kitchens could be a really slick and modern look, especially if lights fitted on the bottom of the unit.
Bear in mind the floor has to be finished all the way to the wall, under the base units.
. In terms of storage space they are could be same as the ordinary ones.
Only downside is, if you want to put a washing machine, they need to sit on the floor, so it would brake up the design concept.
Dishwasher can be fitted, with a bit of a alteration.
Kind Regards
Andras"

"Depends if you can fit a hob and sink in the worktop space and have enough worktop area left to do your preparation and serving If you take 1.2 meters off your worktop ( this allows for sink and hob ) this will leave you with your preparation and serving area"

"Hi its all about how much storage you need.
If you make one wall kitchen all with larder units than you have a lots of storage all depends on what you like and what you are willing to live with."

"Hi,
They can be if you are limited for space or don’t need a lot cupboards. Just make sure you would have enough room for all your cutlery and food.
If you do have enough room and decide to go with one wall, you can add to it later if you find you not got enough units."
