"Hi sound like the gripper rods, they are needed around the perimeter of your carpet to hold it in place and to tuck the cuts away, also to keep it tensioner 😊"

"Hi! We believe the wooden strips you're mentioning is Gripper, which needs to be fitted all around the area where the carpet is going to be fitted. Yes, Grippers are fitted on top of new underfelt, they're used for fixing the carpet to prevent the movement. Hopefully we're answered your query honestly!"

"The wooden strips are grippers and shouldn't be fitted on the under lay just 1cm away from skirtings and around the room to keep the carpets in place. Never seen grippers fitted on top of underlay"

"When you buy new carpet the underlay and gripper Rods comes with it the carpet is pushed into the gripper rods round the outside of the room some people pull them up if underlay is in bad shape"

"Hello. The wood strips is called grippers, they should be installed on sides next to walls, skirtings, with the gap 10mm between. The carpet secure on to them that carpet doesn't slip down and is secure. If you remove old carpet and the old grippers are there, of course would be beter to change them foe properlyand professionalwork ,but if they are in good condition I think won't be problem to re use old grippers."

"There should not be any wood on top of underlay. Only gripper rods around the perimeter"

"I'm assuming that by wooden strips you mean the grippers around the room?

If so and they are in good condition They should be OK to re use"
