"White Matt paint mixed with water 1 part paint for parts water to seal the plaster then you can paint when dry. do not use a vinyl paint or silk as this will just peel off when you paint."

"With new plaster make sure it's completely dried out (light pink) you can use a blow heater if you needed to speed.drying processes..give the wall a sand with a low grit sand paper ready to apply a mist coat you can usually do 2 parts paint to 1 part water sometimes depending on the grade of paint you can even go 50/50 a paint tub should normally tell.you on side of tub the ratio..Leyland trade matt is normally a.good choice..once mist coat has dried in ajust paint to water ratio..myself I.always apply 2 x mist coats cos I normally. Over Polish my finished coat of plaster..just try to stay away from the really cheap.value basic white paint just false economy..hope this helps."

"Some people might prefer to use a paint primer before the main paint is applied, However, you can use the same paint you want to apply as a 50 %water / 50 %paint or 70/ 30 meaning 70% water / 30% paint"

"Hi
Well have you got new wood skirting or MDF to start with??- My advice would be to knott any knotts if you have wood skirts then apply 2 no coats of acrylic primer waterbased then apply your chosen finish ie satin gloss eggshell which will need 2 no coats. If it's MDF apply 2 no coats of acrylic primer undercoat then 2 no coats of chosen finish oil or waterbased ok"

"Hi
To prep the new plaster you need to give it a mist coat first as the new plaster will pull in and dry quickly.
Add water to white emulsion paint at a ratio of 50/50 and then give the walls a coat of neat white before two neat coats of your chosen colour.
